Research Policy and Programme Evaluation

Research organisations regularly evaluate their policies and programmes. The results are used to inform their strategy and to base management and funding decisions on, but they can also be used for the purpose of accountability to policy makers and the public. These evaluations support the efficiency, quality, and impact of the work done by the research organisation.

Science Europe wants to foster and enhance these research evaluation activities among its Member Organisations. It aims to continue developing evaluation activities, to explore the alignment of evaluation methodologies, and to contribute to the development and implementation of standards for the definition, acquisition, storage, analysis, and sharing of evaluation-related data.

Science Europe ran a dedicated Working Group on Research Policy and Programme Evaluation from 2013 to 2017, comprised of experts from its Member Organisations.
