Science Europe Responds to European Commission consultation on European Partnerships

Science Europe has responded to the European Commission’s consultation on European Partnerships under the next EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme (2028–2034), building on its June 2026 Position Statement.

The response highlights the importance of preserving the added value of partnerships in supporting long-term collaboration and aligning national and European research efforts.

It calls for inclusive and transparent governance, flexible funding arrangements, and the continued involvement of research funding and performing organisations in setting priorities and implementing partnerships. Science Europe also emphasises the need to avoid unnecessary complexity and barriers to participation, while ensuring that partnerships support the full spectrum of research and innovation, including fundamental research, in parallel with the EU’s strategic priorities.
