Science Europe Supports the Establishment of the International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine

Science Europe's 2022 Annual Report highlights the most important achievements of 2022 on Science Europe’s priority topics, including research culture, research assessment, open science, EU framework programmes, the green and digital transition, and science communication.

Today, 24 February 2023, marks the first anniversary of the Russian aggression and occupation of Ukraine. One year on, the invasion caused massive casualties, large-scale damage to essential infrastructures, and a major refugee crisis. 

The International Science Council (ISC) and All European Academies (ALLEA) invite you to attend their Second conference on the Ukraine crisis: One year into the Ukrainian war, exploring the impact on the science sector and supporting initiatives. The full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine did not only initiate a global humanitarian crisis, but also dealt a powerful blow on Ukrainian research system. For the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU), it was also a turning point.

The International Centre for Mathematics in Ukraine (ICMU) will carry educational and outreach activities, and also will facilitate interaction of Ukrainian mathematicians with the global mathematical community.

On the occasion of the Science Day organised by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU), Science Europe and its Member Organisations again express their solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Science Europe and its Member Organisations condemn the Russian aggression and occupation of Ukraine in the strongest possible terms. We call on Russia to cease the hostilities and respect international law and human rights.
